A good group

If it is a good group, there must be group cohesiveness among the group members. Group cohesiveness refers that extent to which the members are attracted to each other and to the group. And also all members in a group work as a one for the achieving their common goal of group. There is interpersonal attraction among the members and they have good opportunity to sharing their knowledge and they can be made successful decision on behalf of the group. 

There are so many benefits of group cohesiveness. Such as,

  • Maintenance of good group membership.
  • Buildup the mutual trust among the group members. 
  • They can improve their confidence.
  • Sharing knowledge and ideas. 
  • Get synergistic benefits. 
  • After the successful discussion they can take most successful decisions. 
If there is no group cohesiveness it is cause to increases group conflicts, Asch effect, etc.
So to be a good group, must maintain the group cohesiveness of the group.

    1. Really, the group cohesiveness is very important to do group assignment. If there are free riders it will be cause to demotivate the members who are work truly for the achieving common goal of the group. So to accomplish the common goal, all members of group must maintain the group cohesiveness.

    1. Yes, it also can be a disadvantage to the group. So it is must to build up the mutual trust among the group members. Then it can be removed some level of stress which begin with decision making.

    Yes, group cohesiveness is a very important quality that groups have. Because of group cohesiveness it creates synergy and lead the group to the success. But group cohesiveness can not achieve individually. There should be a contribution from all members of the group to the group.

    1. Yes but sometimes it also can be a trouble to the group. Because of the reason, if there is a devils advocator, he will destroy the ideas which are taken by other members.

  10. The forces that push group members together can be positive (group-based rewards) or negative (things lost upon leaving the group). The main factors that influence group cohesiveness are: members’ similarity group size, entry difficulty, group success and external competition and threats. Often, these factors work through enhancing the identification of individuals with the group they belong to as well as their beliefs of how the group can fulfill their personal needs.

  11. If there isn't group cohesiveness I don't think there will be a good working environment. As humans we like to get others attention and to build relationships. Therefore if the members in a group are not supportive and have poor relationships with others it will be difficult to go through the ladder of success since the discontent feelings of the members.
