A good group

If it is a good group, there must be group cohesiveness among the group members. Group cohesiveness refers that extent to which the members are attracted to each other and to the group. And also all members in a group work as a one for the achieving their common goal of group. There is interpersonal attraction among the members and they have good opportunity to sharing their knowledge and they can be made successful decision on behalf of the group.

There are so many benefits of group cohesiveness. Such as,

  • Maintenance of good group membership.
  • Buildup the mutual trust among the group members.
  • They can improve their confidence.
  • Sharing knowledge and ideas.
  • Get synergistic benefits.
  • After the successful discussion they can take most successful decisions.
If there is no group cohesiveness it is cause to increases group conflicts, Asch effect, etc.
So to be a good group, must maintain the group cohesiveness of the group.

Power of a group
Group cohesiveness is stick togetherness of a group and its' provide the bonds that hold a group together. So in order to work well together and be successful in reaching a goal there must be some level of group cohesiveness. So there are many benefits can earn through group cohesiveness.

The communication within a group is most impotent and people who know each other communicate better and more frequently with each other. If group members are more cohesive for each other its positively affect to the success of the group.

So the feeling of togetherness is motive members to achieve their goals .So through their satisfaction they bound to stay in a group for long time.
the most impotent factor in maintaining group cohesiveness is amount of liking among group members.Followings can be take as advantages of group cohesiveness,

  • Opportunity to work with others and gain from collective wisdom.

  • Social and emotional benefits are also gain from working with each others.

Group Cohesiveness

Group Cohesiveness

Group cohesiveness means simply the intimacy (closeness) of a group or a team. A team or group should have the group cohesiveness in order to be a success group. And also we can say that it is kind of a friendship.
A group which has not the group cohesiveness will be obsoleted or out of graded. And it is obvious that there are some differences between groups which are having group cohesiveness and which are not having. Those differences can be shown as follow.

Group which having group  cohesiveness
Group which not having group cohesiveness
Motivated group members
Demotivated group members
Have a direct plan
Does not  have a proper plan
Punctual
Not punctual
Innovations will be arisen
Innovation will not be arisen
Reach the success
Face barriers

So, it is very important to have group cohesiveness within the group members in order to reach the success of the group.

Togetherness of the Group

  • Group cohesiveness is the resultant of all the forces acting on members to remain in the group.  in other words, it means the stick togetherness of the group.
  • There are many benefits to group cohesiveness. such as have much more extensive communication within the group, successfully achieving their desired goal, the members in the groups that are cohesive are much more satisfied with that group and etc.
  • We can measure the group cohesiveness by using general indicators and  by questions and surveys.
  • When a group becoming a too cohesive, it can be harmful to the group. When a group becomes too cohesive group-think develops. Group-think occurs when a group becomes a so cohesive that group moral and uniformly of opinion become very important to the group.

group cohesiveness is the strength of the group

Simply group cohesiveness means the togetherness of the group members. Actually cohesiveness is more or less important to success of the group. Because when we are playing a role of group member all members should act as an individual. To improve group cohesiveness following factors are very much important. They are,
  •  Clear understanding on each other
  •  Interest to work towards the group objectives
  •  Think about other members' mental & physical situations
  •  Understand that what a member should do on behalf of the group

By improving following factors a group can build up their cohesiveness among the group members. As university students we always have to work as a group. Though there are some differences among the group members & their views we should able to manage those things &   be a successful group. When we are doing a group activity all members must give their contribution for that work. Then only we can get synergistic effect from the group. But some members tend to be a free riders. Under such kind of situation cohesiveness can't be continued. And also if there is cohesiveness among members such kind of things can't be happened. So in my point of view group cohesiveness is highly affect to success of the group & otherwise many problems between members can be arisen.
